NeedGod.net and Patrick mad that Joe Schmid became Christian?

¶1God exists. Christ is Lord. And he established the Catholic Church. I'm not kidding. I just converted to Catholicism.

¶2Conversion is a change of heart and mind. And that just happened. Now, what's happened over the past number of days is there's been a atheist or agnostic philosopher who is well known in certain circles who's recently converted to Catholicism. And so there's been a lot of people, particularly Catholics, celebrating and saying, "This is so amazing." Not only just Catholics, but even Protestants have been saying, "This is such great news." After the former agnostic atheist Joe Schmidt embraced the fullness of the Christian faith, most Christians were very happy. But some staunch anti-atholics like Ryan and Patrick receive the news in a negative way.

¶3They will try to justify their displeasure at someone becoming Christian. And in this video, I'll be answering some of the criticisms and objections to Catholicism. One such example is Red Pen Logic who says, "There'll be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous persons who need no repentance. Praise the Lord. God is on the move." In regards to, I just converted to Catholicism.

¶4We also saw inspiring philosophy. He reshared it saying, "Glory to God. Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants, and Evangelicals are all Christians." That's the difference between Ryan and many other Protestants. Ryan doesn't believe devout Catholics, Orthodox, Lutherans, Anglicans, and even Methodists are saved because he disagrees with him doctrinally. Those that don't believe in his interpretation of faith alone aren't viewed as Christians.

¶5Well, we believe Ryan and his followers are Christian if they were validly baptized and profess faith in Jesus Christ as the living God. Now, is this something that we should celebrate someone going to Catholicism? Not just, hey, I become a Christian. I got my trust in Jesus now, specifically Catholicism. And even if if you have a look at his video, he put out a almost 30 minute video talking about his testimony, his conversion testimony.

¶6If we have a quick have a quick look at the description, God exists. Christ is Lord. Embrace Rome. So this is not just like, hey, I've got my trust in Jesus. In fact, if you go watch this entire conversation, he doesn't mention once Jesus died on the cross for my sins.

¶7The video is called I just converted to Catholicism. So, why would Ryan from needgod.net expect Joe to say anything that's pleasing to his ears? I could go to Ryan's videos and find some where he doesn't mention Jesus at all. That doesn't mean he doesn't believe in Jesus. Also, anyone returning or entering into the Catholic Church must accept the death, burial, and resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ.

¶8Nothing about, hey, look, I was realizing I should be in hell for all my sins, but then put my trust in Jesus. So, I want to hear from you, Patrick. What are your thoughts on this recent development? >> Yeah, I think what we're seeing is a typical thing that Rome typically does is they they find somebody who's a high-profile person and then they bring them into the limelight and then try to use their influence and their popularity prior to becoming Catholic to try to bring more people into thinking, oh, everybody's becoming Catholic and it's this huge popular type situation. Christianity in general has been in decline for the past few decades.

¶9However, we are seeing a recent resurgence in the amounts of converts, baptisms, and those that identify as Catholic or as Christian in general. Now, Patrick is well aware of this as he was freaking out just a few months ago after the news reported on all of the new converts being received into the Catholic Church, >> you know, and and Ryan, I I actually was talking to Tim from Red Pen Logic and was able to send him a DM to try to connect and maybe we'll get to chat a little bit more later, but I think what's happened is guys like Tim and many others is they're knowledgeable of a lot of things except Roman Catholicism. The real experts here being Ryan Patrick and Mike Gendron. >> And this was the same way when I went to seminary. We didn't have much topic discussion on Roman Catholicism.

¶10You learn about Mormonism, 7th Day Adventists, Islam, and church history and councils, but they didn't really talk about the errors of Roman Catholicism. So, a lot of these individuals online are just ignorant to what Roman Catholicism actually teaches. And so, they think that they are just Christians like we are. But when we actually dive into the teachings of Roman Catholicism, we discover that they are contrary to scripture, they have another gospel, many another gospel. So according to Patrick, we don't just have one false gospel.

¶11We have many another false gospels. As a Christian, I love both these guys, but I just don't consider them authorities here. What is a Christian really? To the majority of Christians, historically, it's someone that's baptized and professes the belief in the triune God. Someone who confesses Jesus Christ as Lord, God who became man to redeem us.

¶12Not those who dance to the tune of a particular Protestant denomination. >> It's not not just one issue, but many things. And then they also have another Jesus. They have another Mary. >> The Jesus that Catholics believe in is the historical person that was born 2,000 years ago.

¶13We read about him in the New Testament. The New Testament that was compiled by the Catholic Church. And Mother Mary is the mother of that Jesus. So if Ryan and Patrick don't believe in that same Jesus and Mother Mary, this would imply they believe in the wrong Jesus and Mary, which may be why they don't seem to hesitate when bearing false witness after being corrected multiple times. And consider this.

¶14If someone falsely accused Ryan of committing a crime and the police went to his house and arrested him, they would still be arresting Ryan. Even though the things they heard about him may or may not be false, he would still be the person being referenced. People wouldn't say the police believed in a false Ryan. They have another way of salvation. They have another story for what happens after we die and where we go before we get to heaven.

¶15And the list just goes on and on. So I think we're we're witnessing a time where it's Protestants as they call them, but they're non-atholic Christians need to start being educated as to what Roman Catholicism actually teaches so that we know how to have the conversation. >> Saying non-atholic Christians implies that Catholics are Christians. That's really helpful. And in today's discussion, we'll show you guys even some push back that I received from Noah, from Jesus.

¶16and whatnot who's a Catholic who was having a go at me for saying, "Look guys, I don't think this is necessarily good news. And I'll even explain my line which I said to him that potentially Joe's gone from out out of the frying pan and into the fire." Out of the frying pan and into the fire means someone goes into a worse state than what they were in before. Ryan thinks someone having no belief in God at all is better than that person being Catholic. And this can extend to Protestant denominations or non-atholic Christians that don't agree with Ryan's understanding of once saved always saved or faith alone. So if Ryan could convince a Catholic to be an atheist, you would think that they were better off by getting back into the frying pan.

¶17They would still be cooked, but they would be better off. And Ryan's view here contradicts the Bible. We read in the book of Hebrews 11:6. And without faith, it's impossible to please him. Whoever would draw near to God must believe he exists and that he rewards those that seek him.

¶18So before we look at all that though, what do you think? What do you know that Roman Cuz you're Catholic background, so you'd know your background with this. You've got some good experience. What does the Roman Catholic Church teach is the way to get to heaven? >> Yeah.

¶19So Ryan, it's like you said, I'm a former Catholic. >> I've never actually seen proof that Patrick was a former Catholic. He also claims to be a Bible scholar, then later denied it. In one post I've seen, he even claims to be able to provide biblical insights from a Jewish perspective. And I found this interesting because there have been many allegations that his paid courses plagiarized free study materials.

¶20>> So I I grew up with this sociologically and studied it theologically when I left. So contrary to what the Catholics always try to say is that smart smart what do they say? Smart Protestants become Catholic and and and not smart Catholics become Protestant or something silly. But when it comes to salvation in the gospel, Rome teaches a combination of justification and sanctification. Contrary to how in the Bible we teach that we are justified, we are declared righteous when we put our faith and trust 100% of it in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross to get us into heaven.

¶21The Bible doesn't use percentages when talking about faith. Faith is viewed as something living. Remember, even faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains. It can grow. Saying we can't increase in justification or be justified when participating in God's works would directly contradict the Bible.

¶22As St. James writes, "Prophet Abraham was justified in the eyes of God when offering up his son Isaac on the altar. It wasn't a performance in front of men. And Isaac was probably not in a good mood on that day, but it was the angel of the Lord who spoke to prophet Abraham who said God was pleased by the act and blessed prophet Abraham. Reading Genesis 22:15.

¶23And the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven and said, "By myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will indeed bless you, and I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is on the seash shore, and your descendants shall possess the gate of the enemies, and by your descendants shall all the nation nations of the earth bless themselves because you have obeyed my voice. So Abraham returned to his young men and they arose and went together to Beesa and Abraham dwelt at Beeshiba. Now our Lord Jesus is a descendant of Abraham that blessed us. Our justification is also tied to Abraham participating in God's works. Rome teaches something different.

¶24They say that the initial grace that we are saved of course comes from God. But we have to now cooperate with that grace to then merit for oursel eternal life to get into heaven. All graces come from God in Catholicism. The Bible states explicitly that we can merit an increase in graces after receiving the pure gift. If we can increase in graces, we can increase in justification.

¶25Remember, we are saved by God's grace. This is how we are justified and continue to be justified. And so when we say Rome has a worksbased salvation, what they like to do is go to the very start and say, "No, we don't teach that because God's grace is what first saves." But what the difference is is they actually teach that you have to continue to work for your salvation. That you eventually get to heaven cuz your initial salvation doesn't mean you go to heaven. >> Think about this.

¶26Just because a creature is born doesn't mean that creature will reach adulthood. The creature must remain alive to reach adulthood. It must continue to receive the food necessary for its life and growth. That also applies to those that are born again. Even Neidggo.net believes this to some degree because he does believe someone can lose salvation by falling into apostasy.

¶27Also, they always seem to skip the part that says moved by the Holy Spirit. If Catholics aren't trying to separate these meritorious works from God, why does Ryan and Patrick seem to be doing it? Once you're initially saved and then they say water baptized to to get in, then you have to hold on to that salvation as if it's a gift that you hold on to. And then if you miss mass, you have to now go to confession to be able to go back to uh to be able to go back and receive the Eucharist and receiving the Eucharist actually cleanses you from sin and keeps you from sin. So if someone falls into apostasy, they need to return to the faith to be justified.

¶28If someone falls into mortal sin, they need to be reconciled with God to continue in the spiritual growth. Remember, a living creature can grow. A dead creature can't. Rome teaches all sorts of extra things. They teach that unless you have the church as your mother, you don't have God as your father in the catechism.

¶29That's a another gospel. >> How is this another gospel exactly? If you deny the son, you do not have the father. If you deny those the son sins, you deny the son. When Ryan and Patrick condemn those that don't believe as they believe, they seem to be applying the same logic.

¶30We'll skip ahead as Patrick makes more claims that contradict the Bible. But I wanted to answer this question he asked here. How are they actually getting to heaven? Because they try to say it's not by works, but then when you really examine it, they have to do things to go to these sacraments to then get these graces to eventually get into heaven. But they don't even get to heaven.

¶31What a what a horrible gospel they really have. The only hope they have is to maybe get to purgatory to where then they suffer for who knows how long in a state of purgatory because it's not even classified as a location or a place. But how can you have matter somewhere that doesn't exist? And then so then not only that, but they say you can't even pray. You can't pray to God.

¶32So now your relationship in purgatory with Jesus is less than your relationship here. >> The souls in purgatory can probably pray by virtue of being conscious. Some Catholics may say they can or can't intercede for others in prayer. To my limited knowledge, this is an open theological question. And to answer how Catholics are saved, we are saved by God's works.

¶33The Holy Sacraments are his works that we participate in. We can also share the love we have for God with others in many different ways when being moved by the Holy Spirit and through cooperation. that merits an increase in graces. And justification isn't separate from God's grace. When Ryan and Patrick slander Catholics by saying we believe in our works saving us, it's to the exclusion of God.

¶34We don't believe we can save ourselves. It's God saving us and working through his faithful. Consider this. When someone casts out a demon, is it by their own works or is God working through them? Can they cast a demon out without this cooperation?

¶35Most Christians would say no. And to Ryan and Patrick's false claim of believing in works based salvation. Catholics say no. We just acknowledge the truth that God can work through and with people. In conclusion, I didn't want to get into the part where these men insult my mother Mary as a demon.

¶36May they repent before answering to Jesus Christ for that. But to answer Patrick's claim about purgatory, the soul is immaterial. It's not physical, but we all agree it exists. Purgatory is a process where the soul is purified. It can't really be described as a physical location because like the souls in it, it doesn't occupy physical space.

¶37Many Protestants believe in instant purggation after death. meaning they are completely purified immediately after death while also believing that they will give an account. Catholics believe we give an account during this purgation or purification. The way that many Protestants try to present purgatory as some type of completely foreign concept doesn't make any sense when many of them believe in similar things. Thank you all for watching.
